MEDICAL & INSURANCE
One of the most intimidating aspects of ETS'ing/Retiring is the VA-Claim process but there is so much more to do in order to set you and your family up for a smooth transition. Fortunately, there are organizations out there that will help you navigate through this and will even go the extra mile to act on your behalf as your VSO (Veteran Support Officer). There are chapters through the country that will guide, coach, and assist you in filling your VA claim for free!
Wounded Warrior Project
Worried about filing a VA claim? The team at the WWP will get you set up with a Veteran Support Officer (VSO) who will walk you through the steps of filing your VA Claim. They know you have alot on your plate and this is one item that they can take off for you. Earliest you can submit your claim is 180 days out.
Intrepid Spirit
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund serves United States military personnel experiencing the invisible wounds of war: traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress (PTS). When our servicemen and women return from the battlefield, we help them fight the war within by building world-class, advanced treatment centers providing the best TBI and PTS care, enabling these heroes to continue to serve on active duty and enjoy a full and productive life.
Life Insurance
Before you start coming forward with every injury or pain to your PCM, it is best practice to go ahead and find a life insurance policy that will cover you for several decades after you retire. Many members seeking a life insurance policy after they've already divulged everything on their records, experienced higher monthly premiums, even though they are still healthier than your average American. TACP-A presently does not endorse any particular company.
Medical Insurance
Contrary to what a lot of TACPs believe, you will not have to go through the VA for everything once you retire. Connect with your VSO who will help guide you through the litany of options for you and for your family. ETS-ing members may have to seek other options than Tricare post- separation.
